Language– In Class Exercise

Open a Google Doc here and put the names of the members of your group on it.

  1. First look at the words/sentences in the upper table of this document. Go through each of them. What are they expressing? What do you think are the strength of this term/sentence? What are the weaknesses/problems of this term sentence? Should we use it? Write down your answers.

2. I will assign each row an article to look at in lower section of this (same document) What do we see in the framing/phrasing of article? Is it episodic or thematic? Is there an active agent? Who or what is it? Does it suggest some sort of villain? Write down your answer. How could you write that communicates more effectively?
