Alternate Assignment

Pick one of these routes above.  Using the map, trace it out on google maps, then use the video to “ride” the route.   As you “ride” it see how the parts of the route fit into the categories that Peter Furth has laid out in his article.  (Stand-alone paths, Linear Parks, Cycle Tracks, bike lanes,  local street bikeways, shared road treatments). Include in your report a break down of how much of the route fit into each category. In the Furth article, he references Geller and four types of cyclists (p. 82-83). Which type are you?  As you watch me cycle, do you feel that the route is “low stress”?  Why or why not?  Look on google and compare the time to cycle this route with the time to drive it.  What was the difference?  Do you think it is reasonable to cycle this route?  Why or why not?  Physically go to some place along this route and look at it and observe traffic (car and bicycling).  Does this change any of your analysis?  Is the route physically attractive?
