STS302H Final Paper

Write a 5-6 page paper (1 ” margins, double spaced, 12 point font) on one of the following topics based on course materials.  Your paper will be graded both on your use of course materials and the quality of your analysis.  Submit through Moodle by Dec 6 at noon.

1.  Use two other readings from the course as a way of interrogating Where Good Ideas Come From.  Do you see themes that Johnson discusses in WGICF in these readings?  Do these readings support Johnson’s claims or do they show flaws in his claims?

2. Use two other readings from this class to interrogate Murry and Cox’s Apollo. Do they suggest things that Murray and Cox’s approach has missed? Do they support Murray and Cox?   

3.  One of the themes of this course has been techno-optimism.  Explain to an engineering friend what this term is and what the readings in this course have taught you about techno-optimsm.  What are examples we have seen in the course of techno-optimism?  What have been some counters to techno-optimism?  How do you come down on this?  Are you a techno-optimist?  (One source that might be relevant is the poem we discussed on the first day of class–stanzas 1 and 2)
